Banana Pie with Powdered Sugar
Baking and Desserts • European
Description
Keep an eye on the oven: if you notice that the pie is already browning but the center (check with a toothpick) is still wet, lower the heat. Let it bake longer on a very low flame. The pie is ready when no batter remains on a wooden stick when poked, even in the highest part.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 2 cups
- Bananas 3 pieces
- Sugar 10 oz
- Margarine 5 oz
- Farm fresh eggs 2 pieces
- Milk 5 fl oz
- Vanilla salt to taste
- Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
- Powdered Sugar to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Wash the bananas, peel them, and mash them with a fork. Melt the margarine. After slightly cooling the melted margarine, mix it with the sugar.
Step 2
Combine the resulting mixture with the mashed bananas. Pour in the cooled milk and add the vanilla sugar. Then, beat in the eggs and mix the mixture with a mixer. In a separate large bowl, sift the flour through a sieve and add the baking powder. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Combine the flour with the banana mixture and knead well until a smooth, lump-free batter forms. Pour it into a baking pan. A silicone mold is the most convenient for a banana pie.
Step 4
Place the pie in the oven at moderate heat (about 355°F) and bake until ready, which will take about 40–50 minutes.
Step 5
Remove the pie from the oven, let it cool slightly, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
