Baklava with Pistachios
Ingredients
- Walnuts 10 oz
- Water 5 fl oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Butter 5 oz
- Honey 5 oz
- Pistachios 10 oz
- Phyllo Dough 1 piece
- Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 355°F. Shell and chop the pistachios and walnuts, adding 150 g of sugar and cinnamon. The mixture should not be powdery.
Step 2
Melt the butter over low heat.
Step 3
Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Thaw the phyllo dough and unfold it on a large table. Take a clean towel and lightly dampen it. Cover the dough with the towel.
Step 4
Grease the baking tray with butter. Carefully remove the towel from the dough and start separating the sheets. Place one sheet on the tray. Lightly brush with butter. Keep the remaining sheets covered with the towel. Brush the sheet with butter. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
Step 5
Pour the nuts onto the bottom layer of the dough. Spread evenly. Place a sheet of dough on top, brush with butter, and add 4 more sheets in the same manner.
Step 6
Brush the top sheet with butter and sprinkle with nuts. Add another 6 layers of dough, brushing each with butter.
Step 7
Cut the dough diagonally into strips in both directions to form diamonds. Bake in the oven for 45–50 minutes.
Step 8
In a saucepan, combine water, 50 g of sugar, and honey. Boil for about 10 minutes. Cut the baklava and drizzle with syrup. Top with finely chopped pistachios.
