Description
If the baklava is not baked through in the middle but is browned on top, cover the pan with foil.
Ingredients
- Puff Pastry 20 oz
- Walnuts 10 oz
- Sugar 10 oz
- Water 5 fl oz
- Butter 5 oz
- Meyer Lemon Juice 0 fl oz
- Ground Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Dissolve 250 grams of sugar in 125 milliliters of water and bring the syrup to a boil. Add lemon juice and boil for another 5 minutes over medium heat.
Step 2
Divide the dough in half and roll out 2 rectangles. Place one in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, sugar, and cinnamon. Cover with the second layer, pressing lightly to ensure the dough sticks to the filling, especially at the edges. Brush the baklava with butter and score diamond shapes with a knife.
Step 3
Bake in an oven preheated to 355°F for the first 25 minutes, then for another 10 minutes at 390°F. Remove the baklava from the oven and pour the syrup over it. Once it cools, cut into diamonds along the scored lines.
