Baked Quince with Nuts

Ingredients

  • Quince 4 pieces
  • Sugar 15 oz
  • Cinnamon sticks 1 piece
  • Lemon 1 piece
  • Almonds 1½ tablespoons
  • Pistachios 1½ tablespoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 340°F.

Step 2

Peel the quince, cut each fruit in half lengthwise. Do not remove the core, just cut out the hard part with the seeds. Sprinkle half of the sugar on the bottom of a baking dish and place the quince cut side up. Insert the cinnamon sticks and sprinkle with the remaining sugar. Pour in 250 ml of water and lemon juice, and cover the dish tightly with foil.

Step 3

Bake for 3.5 to 4 hours, basting the quince with the released juices from time to time, especially around the edges. The quince should become soft and dark red in color. Once done, baste the quince with the glaze from the bottom of the dish and let cool.

Step 4

Serve the quince halves at room temperature, sprinkled with nut shavings on top.
