Description

Baked Apples with Nuts and Dried Fruits

Ingredients

  • Apple 4 pieces
  • Walnuts 0 oz
  • Dried Apricots 0 oz
  • Raisins 0 oz
  • Cinnamon ¼ teaspoon
  • Honey 2 teaspoons
  • Orange zest 1 piece

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 355°F.

Step 2

Next, rinse the raisins and dried apricots well. Chop the walnuts and dried apricots finely (if the dried fruits are hard, soak them in warm water for 20–30 minutes to soften).

Step 3

Mix well, add cinnamon, and mix again.

Step 4

Wash the apples, cut them in half, and remove the seeds, carving out the center of the apple so that a teaspoon of the dried fruit and nut mixture fits well inside.

Step 5

To make the halves more stable and prevent spillage, carefully cut a small slice off the bottom of the apples.

Step 6

Grease a baking dish with butter and place the apples in it. Fill the halves with the filling.

Step 7

Drizzle ¼ teaspoon of honey over the filling of each half.

Step 8

Cover with foil (or a lid) and bake in the preheated oven at 355°F for 30–35 minutes. After that, remove the apples and drizzle them with freshly squeezed orange juice.

Step 9

Return to the oven, this time without the foil, and bake for another 10–15 minutes, or until done. You can check for doneness by piercing an apple with a toothpick or by the color of the skin—it should turn yellow. Cooking time may vary depending on the variety of apples, so keep an eye on this process.
