Description
Baked apples with caramel, nuts, honey, and cream
Ingredients
- Apple 2 pieces
- Butter ½ spoons
- Sugar ¼ glasses
- Salt ¼ spoons
- Walnuts 0 oz
- Cream (40%) ¼ glasses
- Honey 2½ spoons
- Ground Cinnamon a pinch
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut two apples in half lengthwise, removing the seeds and stems.
Step 2
In an ovenproof skillet, melt the butter over low heat, sprinkle with sugar (half a tablespoon), and without stirring, immediately place the apples on top of the sugar (skin side up).
Step 3
Keep the saucepan with the apples on the heat until the sugar begins to caramelize (3-5 minutes), then immediately place it in an oven preheated to 430°F for 15 minutes.
Step 4
While the apples are baking, pour a quarter cup of granulated sugar into a medium-sized heavy skillet and place it over medium heat. When the sugar starts to melt (about 2 minutes), begin stirring with a fork and continue until the sugar reaches a golden caramel color. This will take about 1-2 minutes.
Step 5
Remove the skillet with the caramel from the heat, add the toasted walnuts, and mix thoroughly until the nuts are completely coated in sugar. Transfer the caramelized nuts to a flat plate and let them cool for 10 minutes.
Step 6
Whisk the cream and honey together until smooth.
Step 7
Arrange the apples (skin side down) on plates, drizzle with cream, lightly sprinkle with cinnamon, and top with caramelized nuts.
