Austrian Cream Cheese Pastries
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 15 oz
- Salt a pinch
- Milk 5 fl oz
- Dry yeast 0 oz
- Butter 4 tablespoons
- Chocolate eggs 3 pieces
- Powdered Sugar 5 oz
- Semi-soft cream cheese 10 oz
- Lemon 1 piece
- Raisins 1 tablespoon
- Chopped almonds 2 tablespoons
- Egg white 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Combine the flour, salt, yeast, warm milk, sugar, and egg. Mix until smooth. Add the melted butter and mix again. Let it rise for 1.5 hours until the dough doubles in size.
Step 2
Place the dough on a floured surface and roll it out to a thickness of 1.5 cm. Cut into 7 cm squares and transfer to a baking sheet.
Step 3
To prepare the filling, mix the cream cheese with the butter, egg yolks, sugar, lemon zest, and raisins.
Step 4
Beat the egg whites. Add to the cream mixture.
Step 5
Place a tablespoon of filling in each pastry. Fold the corners of the dough to the center, covering the filling. Pinch the edges. Let rise for 45 minutes.
Step 6
Preheat the oven to 355°F. Brush the pastries with the egg white mixture and sprinkle with chopped almonds. Bake for 30 minutes.
