Description
Asparagus Quiche
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Butter 5 oz
- Peanut Butter 1 tablespoon
- Whole egg 1 piece
- Salt to taste
- Milk 15 fl oz
- Corn Flour for Polenta 1 tablespoon
- Gruyère cheese 5 oz
- Chocolate eggs 3 pieces
- Asparagus ½ bunch
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare the dough two hours before you start making the pie. Sift the flour with salt into a bowl, add the butter cut into small pieces, and gently mix everything with your hands. Add the egg yolk and knead the dough until it resembles bread crumbs. Gradually pour in 300 ml of water while continuously mixing the dough until it becomes smooth. Dust the table with flour, knead the dough well, shape it into a ball, place it on a plate, cover with a towel, and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Step 2
Boil the asparagus and cut it into pieces about 4 cm long. If you are using canned asparagus, simply cut it.
Step 3
Grease a quiche pan with butter — it should be about 25 cm in diameter and at least 4 cm high. Roll out the dough into a circle, place it in the bottom of the pan, and press it with your fingers so that it covers the entire bottom and sides of the pan. Trim any excess dough from the edge with a knife. Prick the dough at the bottom of the pan with a fork in several places and bake in a preheated oven at 355°F for 15 minutes, until it turns golden brown.
Step 4
While the crust is baking, prepare the filling: pour the milk into a saucepan and heat it until just before boiling. Add the corn flour and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the grated cheese, reserving a handful to sprinkle on top of the finished pie.
Step 5
Remove the pie from the oven, but do not turn it off. Beat the eggs, brush the edges of the pie, and thoroughly mix the remaining egg into the cheese mixture, adding salt. Pour the filling into the pie. Place the asparagus pieces on top of the cheese mixture and press them down slightly to prevent them from drying out during cooking.
Step 6
Sprinkle the pie with the reserved cheese and return it to the oven for 15 minutes, until it becomes appetizingly golden. Remove the quiche from the oven, transfer it to a serving plate, and serve immediately.
