Description

Apples in Batter and Caramel

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour 5 oz
  • Chicken Egg 1 piece
  • Vegetable Oil 15 fl oz
  • Apple 2 pieces
  • Sesame Oil 0 fl oz
  • Sugar 5 oz
  • Toasted Sesame 0 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Prepare the batter by mixing flour, beaten egg, and cold water (2 tablespoons), and knead well.

Step 2

Peel the apples, remove the core, slice them lengthwise, and coat them in flour.

Step 3

After shaking off the excess flour from the apples, dip them into the batter and mix well to ensure each slice is coated.

Step 4

Fry the apples until golden in hot oil (around 375°F), dropping them in one by one and stirring constantly to prevent sticking. Once cooked, remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Step 5

In a suitable pan, heat a couple of tablespoons of sesame oil over medium heat. If the sesame oil is dark (from roasted seeds), it’s better to use one tablespoon of sesame oil and one tablespoon of any neutral vegetable oil.

Step 6

While heating the oil, add sugar and stir constantly until it reaches a caramel state. As soon as the sugar (caramel) turns golden, immediately reduce the heat to low. Add the sesame seeds, the fried apple slices, and mix well to coat each slice with caramel.

Step 7

Place on a plate lightly greased with oil. Before serving, dip each apple slice in ice-cold water — this will slightly cool the caramel, making it more brittle and preventing it from sticking to your teeth.
