  • Green Apples 0 lbs
  • Butter 10 oz
  • Sugar 6 tablespoons
  • Salt a pinch
  • Wheat Flour 10 oz
  • Whole egg 1 piece
  • Citrus Zest Mix 1 piece
  • Cinnamon to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Take a large bowl for mixing the dough. Sift 250 g of flour, make a well in the center, add a pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 egg yolk.

Step 2

Next, take 125 g of cold butter, cut it into large pieces, and add it to the flour. Then mix well with your hands.

Step 3

Add 2 teaspoons of cold water to bring the dough together into a single mass that doesn't stick to your hands or the sides of the bowl.

Step 4

Place the dough in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

Step 5

Peel 1 kg of apples, removing the skin and seeds. Cut the apples into 4 pieces.

Step 6

Arrange the apples in a circle in a baking dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon and lemon zest on top.

Step 7

Then, in a preheated pan, start adding sugar (a little at a time, so the bottom layer doesn't burn and turn into clumps), stirring and gradually adding sugar to make caramel. Melt the sugar over low heat to prevent the caramel from boiling, as this can make it bitter and ruin the flavor of your pie.

Step 8

Pour the hot caramel over the apples.

Step 9

Take the remaining 125 g of butter and place small square pieces on top of the apples and caramel.

Step 10

Remove the dough and roll it out. Place it over the apples and shape the sides. Make holes in the dough to allow steam to escape.

Step 11

Put the pie in the oven preheated to 390°F. Bake for 25 minutes.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and flip it over so the apples are on top.
