Description
Apple Pie with Phyllo Dough and Nuts
Ingredients
- Phyllo Dough 7 sheets
- Nuts 5 oz
- Apple 5 lbs
- Honey 0 oz
- Butter 15 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Thaw the sheets of phyllo dough. If you have already opened the package, be sure to cover the sheets with a towel or paper. If they dry out, they will start to break immediately.
Step 2
Slice the apples into wedges.
Step 3
Melt 200 grams of butter. Add the apples. Sprinkle in the sugar and cinnamon. Mix thoroughly so that the apples are coated with butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Once the apples become soft, remove from heat and let cool.
Step 4
Chop the nuts. You can use peanuts, hazelnuts, or walnuts.
Step 5
Melt another 200 grams of butter. Take a sheet of phyllo dough, place it in a baking dish or on a baking sheet, and brush this sheet with butter.
Step 6
Place the apple filling on the sheet, leaving the edges free, and sprinkle with nuts on top.
Step 7
Brush a second sheet of phyllo with butter and place it on the first. Add the filling. Repeat this with the remaining 5 sheets. Do not add filling on the last sheet.
Step 8
After layering all the sheets of the pie, lift all the empty edges up and pinch them together to create a closed pie.
Step 9
Brush the pie with liquid honey.
Step 10
Preheat the oven to 355°F and bake the pie for 30–40 minutes. The top crust should be crispy.
Step 11
Remove the pie. It can be served hot.
