Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Cheshire Cheese 5 oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Vegetable Oil 0 oz
- Apple 5 lbs
- Semolina 1 tablespoon
- Golden caster sugar 5 oz
- Ground clove 12 pieces
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Sift the flour into a bowl, leaving some flour to dust the table, add the butter and vegetable oil, rub together, add the grated cheddar, and mix in 3 tablespoons of water. Knead the dough. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Peel the apples, remove the cores, and slice them.
Step 3
Roll out a third of the dough into a circle, and roll out the remaining dough into a larger circle.
Step 4
Use the smaller circle to line the bottom and sides of the pie dish, sprinkle with semolina, and layer the apples, alternating with sugar and cloves.
Step 5
Brush the edges of the dough in the dish with beaten egg, cover the pie with the larger circle, pinch the edges together, and trim.
Step 6
Use the scraps of dough to make decorations for the pie: flowers, leaves, braids, etc. Decorate the pie with them.
Step 7
Make a small hole in the center of the pie, brush the pie with beaten egg. Bake for 10 minutes at 430°F, then reduce the temperature to 375°F and bake for another 45 minutes. Remove the pie from the oven and let it stand for 20 minutes.
