Apple Mojito Compote for Winter

Ingredients

  • Apple 20 oz
  • Fresh Mint 2 sprigs
  • Oranges 1 piece
  • Lemon 0 oz
  • Sugar 5 oz
  • Water 2½ l

Prepare all the ingredients.

Sterilize the jars over steam for 15–20 minutes.

Wash the apples. Cut each apple into quarters, remove the core, and place them in a jar, filling it to about 3/4 of its capacity.

Wash the lemon and orange (and blanch in boiling water if the fruits have a waxy coating). Cut out a few slices from the center of the orange (the leftover orange can be used in other dishes or simply eaten). Cut the lemon into wedges. Add to the jar.

Add mint leaves to the jar.

Boil the water and pour it into the jar up to the top. Cover the jar with lids (do not seal) and let it sit for about 1 hour.

Drain the water from the can into a pot.

Bring it to a boil.

Pour granulated sugar into the jar with the fruits and cover with hot liquid.

Seal the jar and turn it upside down, wrap it in a blanket or throw, and leave it for 8 hours, or ideally for 24 hours.

Flip the jars upside down and store them. You can taste the mojito compote after a month. Serve with ice.
