Description
Apple Galette
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Salt ¼ tablespoon
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Butter 5 oz
- Water 4 tablespoons
- Vanilla salt to taste
- Apple 3 pieces
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a bowl, mix the flour with salt, sugar, and vanilla, add the butter, and rub everything into a coarse crumb. Then gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing with a fork to knead the dough — it should become slightly moist. Knead it a little with your hands, shape it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Peel the apples, cut them in half, remove the core, and then slice the apples into thin wedges.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 430°F (428 degrees Fahrenheit), line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and grease it with a piece of butter.
Step 4
Transfer the dough to a floured surface, roll it out into a thin circle, being careful not to damage the dough, then roll it onto a rolling pin and transfer it to the baking sheet.
Step 5
Arrange the apple slices in circles, slightly overlapping, leaving a 4 cm (1.5 inch) border. Sprinkle with a little sugar (about 2 tablespoons) and place small pieces of butter on top. Then gently fold the edges over the apples and press down slightly.
Step 6
Bake the galette for 30–35 minutes, until it is slightly golden and the apples are tender. Let the finished galette cool slightly on the baking sheet. Then cut it with a sharp knife.
