Apple Fritters
Baking and Desserts • Latin American
Description
In these fritters, there is significantly more apple than flour; in fact, the base of the batter is apple puree. You can prepare the puree the night before, which will take about an hour.
Ingredients
- Apple 15 oz
- Wheat Flour 1 glass
- Sugar ½ glasses
- Ghee 0 oz
- Dry yeast 0 oz
- Salt ½ spoons
- Powdered Sugar to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Bake the apples whole in the oven at 355°F (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for 40 to 60 minutes, depending on their size. They should become very soft.
Step 2
Pass the baked apples through a sieve to remove any unwanted bits and achieve a smooth puree.
Step 3
In the warm puree, mix in the remaining ingredients except for the powdered sugar, and let it rest for about 20 minutes to allow the yeast to activate.
Step 4
Fry the pancakes in a small amount of clarified butter, first on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook on the other side. Serve warm or cold, dusted with powdered sugar.
