Apple Crumble Squares
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 4 cups
- Walnuts 5 oz
- Butter 10 oz
- Brown Sugar 1 cup
- Ground Cinnamon 1¾ teaspoons
- Apple 65 oz
- Raisins 5 oz
- Potato protein 1½ tablespoons
- Meyer Lemon Juice 3 tablespoons
- Granulated sugar 0.3 cups
- Salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, chopped walnuts, ½ cup of softened butter, ½ cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon; rub together with your fingers until crumbly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
Step 2
Peel the apples and remove the cores, then cut into small cubes. In a skillet, combine the apples, ¼ cup of butter, raisins, ½ cup of brown sugar, and the remaining cinnamon, and cook over medium heat for 25-30 minutes. Dissolve the starch in the lemon juice and thicken the filling.
Step 3
Mix 3 cups of flour with granulated sugar and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Add the remaining butter and rub into crumbs. Press into the bottom of a baking dish (40x20 cm) and bake for 20-25 minutes at 190°C. Spread the filling over the hot base. Sprinkle with crumbs on top. Bake for 40 minutes. Let cool completely and cut into squares.
