Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour 1 cup
  • Sugar 1 teaspoon
  • Salt ¼ teaspoon
  • Butter 5 oz
  • Whole egg 1 piece
  • Water 1½ tablespoons
  • Vanilla salt 2 teaspoons
  • Brown Sugar 2 tablespoons
  • Ground Cinnamon ¼ teaspoon
  • Grated Ginger Root ¼ teaspoon
  • Apple 3 pieces
  • Cheshire Cheese to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Dough: Mix the flour with the sugar (white and vanilla) and salt. Add the butter (115 g), cut into small pieces, and mix well with a fork. Incorporate the egg and cold water with a fork until the dough is pliable. Form the dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for an hour.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 390°F.

Step 3

Filling: Mix the brown sugar with the cinnamon and ginger.

Step 4

Grease a baking dish (22 cm) with butter and line the bottom with parchment paper. Spread the dough over the bottom and sides of the dish and refrigerate again. Peel the apples, remove the core, and cut into slices about 0.7–1 cm thick. Drizzle with lemon juice. Arrange the apples on the dough, sprinkle with the sugar mixture, and distribute the remaining butter on top.

Step 5

Bake in the lower third of the oven for about 40 minutes. Slice the cheddar cheese thinly and place it on the pie, then bake for another 10 minutes. Remove and cool at room temperature.
