Description

Apple and Raisin Strudel

Ingredients

  • Green Apples 2 pieces
  • Walnuts 0 oz
  • Raisins 0 oz
  • Wheat Flour 10 oz
  • Water 5 fl oz
  • Breadcrumbs 5 oz
  • Malt Vinegar 0 fl oz
  • Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Sugar 0 oz
  • Cinnamon 0 oz
  • Powdered Sugar to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

In a bowl, mix 150 g of flour with slightly warm water, kneading into a homogeneous mass. Add vegetable oil and half a teaspoon of vinegar. Set aside for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, peel the apples. Remove the cores and cut them into small cubes.

Step 3

Mix the chopped apples with crushed walnuts and raisins. Add 100 g of breadcrumbs, cinnamon, and sugar to prevent the filling from turning into apple and raisin puree.

Step 4

After well beating the dough, dusting it with flour, start gradually stretching it. It’s better to roll it out with a rolling pin at first, avoiding holes, achieving transparency in the dough. When the layer is thin enough, take it in your hands and start stretching it like pizza dough. The thickness should be 0.8–1 mm.

Step 5

Place the resulting dough layer on a floured towel.

Step 6

On the edge of the layer, place the filling and roll it up, using the towel to help. To prevent the layers of dough from sticking together, sprinkle the inner part of the layer with breadcrumbs.

Step 7

Place the resulting roll on a baking sheet. Prick it with a fork all over the surface and drizzle with melted butter on top.

Step 8

Leave it in the oven for 15–20 minutes at a temperature of 430°F.

Step 9

Cut the finished strudel into portions and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
