Apple and Orange Pudding
Ingredients
- Lemon ½ piece
- Apple 3 pieces
- Orange zest 1 piece
- Butter 5 oz
- Demerara Sugar 5 oz
- Stale Bread 12 slices
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Peel the apples and slice them thinly. Grate the zest of half a lemon and squeeze the juice from the orange.
Step 2
Melt the butter in a saucepan.
Step 3
Trim the crusts off the bread. Spread butter on 7 slices and line the bottom and sides of a buttered dish with them.
Step 4
Place a layer of sliced apples in the center, add some zest, drizzle with orange juice, and sprinkle with sugar. Continue layering bread, apples, zest, adding orange juice, and finish with a layer of bread. Sprinkle with sugar and brush with butter.
Step 5
Bake at 355°F for 50 minutes.
