
Apple and Beet Compote

Description
This recipe is designed for a three-liter jar.
Ingredients
- Apple 1½ kg
- Beetroot 1 piece
- Raw cane sugar 10 oz
- Cinnamon 1 piece
- Water 1½ l
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients. Prepare the jars: wash and sterilize them, and boil the lids.
Step 2
Cut the apples into large wedges and remove the cores.
Step 3
Wash the beetroot, peel it, and grate it using a coarse grater.
Step 4
Fill the jar with apples about one third full, pour boiling water to the brim, and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Step 5
Drain the water into a pot, add sugar and a cinnamon stick, and bring to a boil.
Step 6
Add the beetroot, simmer for a few minutes, and let it cool for 30 minutes.
Step 7
Strain the syrup and bring it back to a boil.
Step 8
Pour the hot syrup into the jar.
Step 9
Seal the jar, turn it upside down, wrap it in a towel, and let it cool completely.
Step 10
Flip it over and store it away.
