Ingredients

  • Water 8 cups
  • Snap Peas 15 oz
  • Onion 1 piece
  • Celery stalk 2 pieces
  • Ground Black Pepper ¼ teaspoon
  • Smoked Ham on the Bone 30 oz
  • Carrot 3 pieces

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Place the water and peas on the stove. Bring to a boil. Cook uncovered for 2 minutes; remove from heat. Cover the pot with the peas and let it sit for 1 hour.

Step 2

After that, add the chopped onion, celery, and pepper to the peas. Add the ham hock as well. Bring to a high heat and let it boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1 hour 30 minutes or until the peas are tender.

Step 3

Without removing the pot from the heat, fish out the meat from the hock. Remove all the ham and cut it into pieces.

Step 4

Add the chopped meat and carrots to the pot. Bring to a boil; reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for another 30 minutes or until the carrots are tender and the soup reaches a smooth consistency. Bon Appetit!!
