Description
How to prepare dry peas for use? You need to remove dust, sand, and any discolored peas. Soak the peas in water. Wait for 2 minutes and remove all the skins and peas that float to the surface. Drain the water and rinse the peas again, then place them in a colander. One serving contains 250 kcal.
Ingredients
- Water 8 cups
- Snap Peas 15 oz
- Onion 1 piece
- Celery stalk 2 pieces
- Ground Black Pepper ¼ teaspoon
- Smoked Ham on the Bone 30 oz
- Carrot 3 pieces
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Place the water and peas on the stove. Bring to a boil. Cook uncovered for 2 minutes; remove from heat. Cover the pot with the peas and let it sit for 1 hour.
Step 2
After that, add the chopped onion, celery, and pepper to the peas. Add the ham hock as well. Bring to a high heat and let it boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1 hour 30 minutes or until the peas are tender.
Step 3
Without removing the pot from the heat, fish out the meat from the hock. Remove all the ham and cut it into pieces.
Step 4
Add the chopped meat and carrots to the pot. Bring to a boil; reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for another 30 minutes or until the carrots are tender and the soup reaches a smooth consistency. Bon Appetit!!
