American Gingerbread Cookies
Ingredients
- Butter 5 oz
- Candied fruits 5 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Whole egg 1 piece
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Salt to taste
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Grated Ginger Root ½ teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Finely chop 3 pieces of candied ginger and cut 3 pieces into small cubes. Mix the chopped ginger, butter, sugar, egg, and salt, then add the sifted flour and knead into a uniform dough. Roll it into a ball, wrap it in foil or plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 390°F.
Step 3
Divide the dough into 3 parts and roll each part on a floured board into sheets ½ cm thick. Cut into rectangles measuring 4x7 cm and place on a baking sheet.
Step 4
Beat the egg yolk with a small amount of water, brush the cookies, sprinkle with ginger cubes on top, and bake for 15 minutes.
