Ingredients
- Boiled White Round Rice 2 cups
- Vegetable Oil 5 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Boil the rice in a large amount of water for 20–25 minutes. The rice should be slightly overcooked, but the grains should not stick together. Drain the water using a colander, let the water drain, and spread it on paper towels to dry.
Step 2
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the rice in a single layer on top. Place it in the oven for 1.5–2 hours at a temperature of 80–210°F. The rice should be completely dry.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a pan (enough for the rice to float) — the oil should be hot but not smoking.
Step 4
Add the rice in small portions — it will start to puff up quickly. Remove it immediately with a slotted spoon and place it on napkins or paper towels to get rid of excess fat.
