Description
Summer lemonade with ginger and mint
Ingredients
- Lemon 3 pieces
- Fresh Mint 1 bunch
- Grated Ginger Root 1 piece
- Non-alcoholic sparkling wine 5 qt
- Raw cane sugar 10 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
It's best to use lemons, mint, and even fresh ginger straight from the refrigerator for preparation — this will help achieve a smoother taste during the mixing of ingredients. The drink's concentration does not allow for serving with ice or diluting with water.
Step 2
Rinse the mint under cool water, selecting healthy, firm stems, and removing wilted and dried leaves. Trim the stems to the first remaining leaves.
Step 3
Divide the prepared water into several containers. Pour approximately 2 cups of water into two of them. In the remaining volume (about 1.5 liters of water), add all the mint. Also, add all the sugar.
Step 4
Rinse the lemons under cool water, cut them in half, and squeeze out the juice. I recommend making the juice directly in the container with water — this will also allow you to add aroma and oils from the zest, avoiding bitterness during infusion. Whatever method you choose, the lemon juice needs to be mixed with the water in one of the prepared containers.
Step 5
Peel the piece of fresh ginger. Slice it thinly. If you encounter a particularly fibrous piece of ginger, it's better to replace it with another or to add it gradually — the flavor will be very intense. Add the sliced ginger to the remaining container with water.
Step 6
By this time, the water in the container with mint and sugar should have a reddish tint. If there is undissolved sugar at the bottom — do not shake, but gently invert the closed container a few times. Now you can add the water with lemon juice, followed by the water with sliced ginger. I recommend dosing the last part to taste — you can always add a little more if the flavor seems too strong.
Step 7
Leave to cool and infuse in the refrigerator for about an hour. It is advisable to invert the container with lemonade every 15–20 minutes.
