Description

Spiced Masala Tea

Ingredients

  • Cardamom 5 pieces
  • Cinnamon 1 piece
  • Grated Ginger Root 1 tablespoon
  • Green peppercorns 5 pieces
  • Nutmeg ½ teaspoon
  • Ground clove 5 pieces
  • Milk ½ liter
  • Black tea 0 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Boil water (1 liter). At the same time, grate the ginger (about the size of a thumb or 1 tablespoon of ground ginger) and nutmeg (half or ½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg).

Step 2

Take 5 cloves and half a cinnamon stick. Crush them.

Step 3

Crush 5 cardamom seeds and 5 black peppercorns as well.

Step 4

As soon as the water boils, pour off 200 ml of water into a separate container and set it aside for later 'revitalizing' the tea.

Step 5

At the boiling stage, add the spices to the water. About a minute later, once the water boils, pour in the pre-warmed milk (0.5 liters).

Step 6

Meanwhile, in a cup, add the black tea (25 grams) and pour in cold boiled water to moisten the tea leaves.

Step 7

Form them into a damp clump with your fingers. As soon as the milk starts to bubble, create a vortex with a stick and quickly, in one motion, add the damp clump of tea into the vortex.

Step 8

Wait for the water to boil again, then stop the boiling by pouring in the 'revitalizing water' — thus settling the tea. Turn off the heat. Let it steep for 3–5 minutes.
