Description
A hybrid of a Bloody Mary and shrimp salad, this popular appetizer is often enjoyed at beach resorts along the Gulf of Mexico.
Ingredients
- Oranges 2 pieces
- Lime 3 pieces
- Shrimp 20 oz
- Cucumbers 10 oz
- Marinated cherries 12 pieces
- Avocado 1 piece
- Mild Chili Spice ½ pieces
- Spiced Tomato Juice 15 fl oz
- Ketchup 2 spoons
- TABASCO® 1 tablespoon
- Worcestershire Sauce 3 spoons
- Tequila 0 fl oz
- Scallions 0 oz
- Cilantro 0 oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Mix the tomato juice, orange and lime juice, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, and tequila, seasoning with salt and black ground pepper. All liquid ingredients should be very cold.
Step 2
Taste the sauce — it should achieve a balance of sour, spicy, sweet, and hot flavors. If it lacks sweetness, you can add a little sugar.
Step 3
Dice the cucumbers into small cubes, and do the same with the avocado. Combine the avocado and cucumbers with cooked shrimp, quartered tomatoes, chopped cilantro, chili pepper, and green onions.
Step 4
Arrange the salad in cocktail glasses, drizzle with sauce, and serve.
