Salad with Mozzarella, Anchovies, and Capers Sicilian Style

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes 2 pieces
  • Melted Cheese 5 oz
  • Salted anchovies in oil 4 pieces
  • Olives stuffed with lemon to taste
  • Basil 1 stem
  • Pickled capers 1 teaspoon
  • Olive Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Dried Rosemary a pinch

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Preparation stage: – rinse the anchovies (salted), cut in half, remove the bones, – rinse the capers (salted), soak in water for 20 minutes, rinse.

Step 2

Place the mozzarella, cut into 4 pieces, in the center of the dish.

Step 3

Cut the red tomatoes and arrange them around the mozzarella; you can add a little salt, but very sparingly, and sprinkle lightly with oregano.

Step 4

Place the anchovies on top of the tomatoes.

Step 5

Add whole black olives on top of the anchovies.

Step 6

Add capers on top of the anchovies.

Step 7

Place the basil in the center of the cut mozzarella.

Step 8

Add just a little olive oil – only on the tomatoes, NEVER on the mozzarella.

Step 9

Serve with freshly baked bread.
