Reuben Sandwich on Rye Bread
Sandwiches • American
Description
You can substitute the pork tenderloin with roast beef. If you don't want to spend time cooking the meat, you can replace it with store-bought corned beef, ham, or cooked-smoked pork — it will be just as good.
Ingredients
- Pork tenderloin 10 oz
- Sauerkraut 10 oz
- Cheese Spread 5 oz
- Rye Bread 4 slices
- Ketchup 5 oz
- Mayonnaise 5 oz
- Pickles 5 pieces
- Dijon Mustard 5 oz
- Garlic 4 cloves
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Butter 0 oz
- Safflower Oil to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Season the pork tenderloin with salt and pepper. Sear on both sides in sunflower oil for 2 minutes each side. Generously coat with mustard and crushed garlic. Wrap in foil and place in a preheated oven at 390°F for 30–35 minutes.
Step 2
Cut the loaf into 4 slices.
Step 3
Drain the sauerkraut.
Step 4
Slice the cheese into 8 pieces.
Step 5
Mix ketchup with mayonnaise and grate the pickles on a coarse grater. Add to the sauce.
Step 6
Slice the pork into thin pieces.
Step 7
Assemble the sandwich on rye bread. Spread the sauce, add sauerkraut, meat, and cheese. Top with the second slice and fry in a skillet with butter on both sides for about a minute until crispy.
