Red Cabbage with Raisins and Butter
Ingredients
- Red Currant 1 head
- Raisins 3 tablespoons
- Butter 5 oz
- Water 1 cup
- Lemon 1 piece
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Thinly slice half of the head of red cabbage.
Step 2
In a large pot or saucepan, melt the butter.
Step 3
Add the cabbage, stir, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until the cabbage is well coated with butter.
Step 4
Squeeze the juice of one lemon, add half a cup of raisins, one tablespoon of sugar, and half a cup of water, then simmer on low heat with the lid slightly open for about 30-40 minutes until the cabbage is soft.
Step 5
Season with salt and pepper to taste along the way.
Step 6
Serve with rice, fish, or on its own.
