Description
A Tuscan contribution to our 'Golden Thousand': panzanella, a salad made from ripe tomatoes and bread soaked in water with vinegar. The tomatoes must be ripe and flavorful, or the dish will be ruined.
Ingredients
- Stale Bread 10 oz
- Tomatoes 10 oz
- Spanish onions 1 piece
- Basil 0 oz
- Olive Oil 0 fl oz
- Red Wine Vinegar 0 fl oz
- Salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Cut the stale bread into large pieces.
Step 3
Transfer the bread to a dish and pour over a mixture of water and vinegar. Let it sit for 30 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the liquid.
Step 4
Slice the onion into thin strips.
Step 5
Cut the tomatoes into medium-sized pieces and tear the basil leaves.
Step 6
Squeeze the bread by hand and transfer it to a clean bowl.
Step 7
Add the prepared vegetables to the bread.
Step 8
Pour olive oil into the salad.
Step 9
Season with salt and mix well.
Step 10
