Mushroom and Mozzarella Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • Olive Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Onion ½ head
  • Fresh Mushrooms 5 oz
  • Garlic 1 clove
  • Dry White Wine 2 tablespoons
  • Chopped Sage Leaves ½ teaspoon
  • Chopped Sage Leaves 1 tablespoon
  • Sourdough Bread 2 pieces
  • Butter 1 tablespoon
  • Melted Cheese 2 pieces

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a pan, add sliced onion and thinly sliced mushrooms. Cook over low heat until the mushrooms start to caramelize, about 20-30 minutes.

Step 2

Add finely chopped garlic and thyme and cook for another minute.

Step 3

Pour in the wine and cook until it evaporates.

Step 4

Remove from heat and stir in the parsley.

Step 5

Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread. On the clean side of one slice, layer the mushrooms, then the cheese slices, cover with the second slice, buttered side up, and press lightly.

Step 6

Preheat the grill, place the sandwich on it, and grill until the cheese starts to melt and the bread is golden brown. Cut diagonally in half and serve.
