Description

The proportions of wine/juice/strong alcohol and fruits can be varied to your taste. If you have leftover fruit from New Year's, feel free to toss it into the pot! If you have little wine and a lot of juice, you can 'strengthen' the mulled wine with any aromatic strong alcohol. Or enjoy a lightly alcoholic mulled wine.

Ingredients

  • Apple 1 piece
  • Red Grape Juice 15 fl oz
  • Unsweetened cherry juice 10 fl oz
  • Water 10 fl oz
  • Orange zest 1 piece
  • Cinnamon 2 pieces
  • Star anise 2 pieces
  • Cardamom 5 pieces
  • Ground clove 7 pieces
  • Bourbon 5 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Pour a glass of water into a pot, add the spices, and simmer for about 10 minutes to fully release the aromas of all the spices.

Step 2

Cut the orange (with zest) and apple into cubes. Add the chopped fruits to the pot, pour in the juice and wine, and heat without boiling. Remove from heat, add the cherry bourbon, and let it steep for 10 minutes under a covered lid.

Step 3

Serve hot, pouring into glasses.
