Mint and Basil Infusion

Ingredients

  • Basil 0 oz
  • Fresh Mint 0 oz
  • Sugar 0 oz
  • Gin 10 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1 Image

Step 1

Rinse the basil and mint leaves. Make sure there is no dust, dirt, or insects on them.

Step 2 Image

Step 2

Thoroughly dry the leaves using paper towels or a dedicated salad spinner.

Step 3 Image

Step 3

Place the basil leaves in one hand and gently clap them with the other. This helps to slightly break down the structure of the leaves, allowing them to release more juice.

Step 4 Image

Step 4

Repeat the same procedure with the mint leaves.

Step 5 Image

Step 5

Place all the leaves into a 300 ml bottle. A dark glass bottle is the best choice, as it allows less sunlight to penetrate.

Step 6 Image

Step 6

Add sugar to the bottle. It will help enhance the flavor of the infusion.

Step 7 Image

Step 7

Using a funnel, fill the bottle with gin to the brim. All the herbs should be completely submerged in the liquid, and there should be no air left in the bottle.

Step 8 Image

Step 8

Eliminate any air bubbles that may have formed on the surface. Seal the bottle tightly with a cap and store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight for a week. The ideal temperature for infusing is between 16 to 65°F, but the refrigerator will also work.
