Description

The resulting drink will have an alcohol content of about 40%.

Ingredients

  • Lemon 7 pieces
  • Drinking Alcohol 15 fl oz
  • Sugar 20 oz
  • Water 20 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Thoroughly wash and dry the lemons.

Step 2

Using a vegetable peeler, remove the zest from the lemons into a prepared container. It is very important to only cut off the top yellow layer of the lemon peel, as this contains the essential oils that give flavor and aroma to the drink, while the white part of the zest will taste bitter. Choose lemons so that you get 120–150 grams of zest. You can store the lemons in a sealed bag to add later with the syrup to the infusion.

Step 3

Pour 500 ml of alcohol (vodka) over the zest and seal tightly with a lid. Mark the date on the jar so you don't forget, and leave it in a dark, cool place, shaking it every day.

Step 4

After 5–10 days, depending on your preference, prepare the sugar syrup. To do this, pour the sugar into the water and place it over low heat.

Step 5

Slowly stir the syrup with a spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved, then remove from heat and cool to room temperature.

Step 6

Open the jar with the prepared infusion and strain it through a sieve.

Step 7

To prevent the alcohol from evaporating, pour the strained infusion into the syrup and mix well.

Step 8

Bottle the mixture using a funnel and let it infuse for another 5 days. You can also add juice from the reserved lemons.

Step 9

After 5 days, the finished drink can be placed in the freezer. After about a day, it will cool to the desired temperature.
