Homemade ginger beer (ginger lemonade)
Ingredients
- Grated Ginger Root 1 tablespoon
- Lemon 1 piece
- Raw cane sugar 10 oz
- Cream of tartar ½ spoons
- Dry yeast ¾ spoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a pot, combine ginger, lemon sliced into thin rounds, sugar, and cream of tartar. Place over medium heat and slowly bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Add 1.5 liters of cold water and the yeast, stir, cover with a lid, and place in a cool area overnight.
Step 2
The next day, strain through cheesecloth and pour into sterilized bottles, leaving a little space at the top. Seal tightly and place in the refrigerator, checking every 3–4 hours and slightly loosening the lid to allow bubbles to escape.
Step 3
The ginger beer is ready in 12 to 36 hours.
