Description

Citrus lemonade is a base that you can customize with various syrups (I love pomegranate), freshly squeezed juices, fragrant herbs, and spices. Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar — for some, even five tablespoons might taste too sweet.

Ingredients

  • Water 1½ l
  • Lemon 2 pieces
  • Lime 2 pieces
  • Oranges 1 piece
  • Fresh Mint ½ bunches
  • Sugar 5 teaspoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Pour boiling water over each citrus fruit and let them sit for a minute. Dry them off and very thinly slice the zest. Transfer the zest to a large heatproof bowl and pour in 1.5 liters of boiling water. Squeeze the juice from the fruits and add it to the water as well.

Step 2

Add sugar, bring to a boil, and then remove from heat. Allow the drink to cool naturally, without using a refrigerator. Once the drink has cooled, add mint by gently crushing the leaves between your fingers, and then chill it in the refrigerator.
