Homemade Cappuccino
Beverages • European
Description
In this case, it's better to use 'Arabica' (in my opinion, Brazilian Santos/Bourbon is especially good for cappuccino), with a darker roast. It's important that the coffee is strong (2-3 teaspoons per 100 ml of water). Instead of a cezve, you can use a moka pot or a French press, but then you will have to forgo whole spices.
Ingredients
- Ground Coffee 0 oz
- Water 5 fl oz
- Milk 0 fl oz
- Cream 0 fl oz
- Cardamom 2 pieces
- Cinnamon ½ piece
- Brown Sugar to taste
- Salt a pinch
- Cocoa Powder on the tip of a knife
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Place the cezve on the heat, add the desired amount of sugar, a pinch of salt, crushed cardamom pods, and cinnamon.
Step 2
Add freshly ground coffee to the heated cezve. Pour in soft water at room temperature, stir, and let it simmer on low heat.
Step 3
While the coffee is brewing, heat the milk with the cream (preferably richer), but do not boil.
Step 4
When the coffee is ready (active foam forms), remove it from the heat and let it steep for a few minutes. Meanwhile, froth the hot milk with a mixer or in a small glass jar with a tight lid until foam forms.
Step 5
In a pre-warmed cup, strain the prepared coffee, then pour in the milk with foam in a thin stream.
Step 6
Mix a little cocoa powder, sugar (or powdered sugar), and ground cinnamon, and sprinkle the drink through a sieve.
