Description

Herring salad with potatoes and watercress.

Ingredients

  • Potato 15 oz
  • Herring in red wine sauce 10 oz
  • Shallot 1 head
  • Dill 0 oz
  • Cress salad 1 bunch
  • Dijon Mustard ½ spoons
  • Horseradish Leaves 0 oz
  • English Dry Mustard ½ spoons
  • Olive Oil 0 fl oz
  • Sugar a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Combine mustard, mustard powder, three tablespoons of olive oil, chopped shallots, and grated horseradish. Season the mixture to taste with salt, pepper, and a pinch or two of sugar.

Step 2

Boil the potatoes until tender. Once they are ready, drain the water, let them cool slightly, and depending on the variety, peel and cut them into halves or large slices. Pour the sauce over the potatoes and set aside temporarily.

Step 3

Cut the fillet into small pieces and gently mix with the potatoes and sauce.

Step 4

If the watercress leaves are large, chop them into bite-sized pieces suitable for the salad, drizzle with olive oil, and toss with your hands to evenly coat the greens. Arrange the watercress on plates, then top with the potatoes, herring, and sprigs of dill.
