Frisée and Pear Salad with Balsamic Syrup
Ingredients
- Brown Sugar 1 teaspoon
- Leek 2 stalks
- Balsamic Vinegar ½ cup
- Olive Oil ¼ cup
- Romaine lettuce 10 oz
- Asian Pear 10 oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a small saucepan, bring the vinegar, sugar, and 0.25 teaspoon of salt to a boil, stirring, and cook for about 3 minutes until the volume is reduced by half. Transfer to a bowl.
Step 2
In a skillet, heat the olive oil and add the thinly sliced leek and 0.25 teaspoon of salt. Cook, stirring, until softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 3
On plates, arrange the frisée leaves and the sliced pears. Top with the hot leek in oil and then drizzle with balsamic syrup. Sprinkle with freshly ground pepper and serve.
