Fried Rye Sandwiches with Sauerkraut and Gruyère

It's best to warm the sauerkraut slightly.
Ingredients
- Rye Bread 4 pieces
- Gruyère cheese 4 pieces
- Sauerkraut 5 oz
- Butter 4 teaspoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
Step 2
Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread and place them butter-side down in the skillet. Top one slice with a piece of cheese, then place sauerkraut on the second slice. Lightly toast until golden brown and place the bread with cheese on top of the bread with cheese and sauerkraut. Press down slightly.
Step 3
Toast for a little longer until the cheese starts to melt, then transfer to plates. Cut diagonally in half and serve.
