Description
Fragrant Masala Chai
Ingredients
- Water 3 glasses
- Clove 4 pieces
- Ground Cinnamon a pinch
- Nutmeg a pinch
- Cardamom a pinch
- Milk 1 glass
- Brown Sugar 2 spoons
- Grated Ginger Root ½ spoons
- Black tea 1 tablespoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Bring water to a boil; once boiling, add the spices: cloves (you can crush 5 tops with your fingers and leave out the stems), cinnamon (in addition to ground, you can add a couple of sticks), cardamom, and nutmeg (either whole or ground is fine). Boil for 10 minutes.
Step 2
While the spices are simmering, finely chop a piece of ginger to yield half a tablespoon of minced pulp (those who enjoy a stronger flavor can increase the amount of ginger to a full tablespoon, which will make the masala spicy). Add the ginger to the water.
Step 3
After 3 minutes, add the milk and sugar, and boil for another 5 minutes. Then turn off the heat.
Step 4
Add tea (preferably Indian varieties such as Darjeeling or Assam) — let it steep for about three minutes and serve.
