Daiquiri on the Rocks
Drinks • Author's
Description
In the classic daiquiri, named after a small Cuban village, there are only three ingredients: light rum, sugar, and lime juice. We based our version on a different take — the 'Special Hemingway.' Due to diabetes, Hemingway opted for his drink without syrup, while we made our cocktail sweet. Not only did Hemingway order his favorite cocktail unsweetened, but he also often requested it with a double shot of rum. This led to yet another variation of the daiquiri — the 'Papa Doble.'
Ingredients
- Bacardi Lemon Rum 0 fl oz
- Maraschino Liqueur 0 fl oz
- Gingerbread-flavored syrup 0 fl oz
- Lime ½ pieces
- Grapefruits ½ pieces
- Ice 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Using half of a lime, cut off the zest in a long, twisted strip and then cut a half-centimeter wide strip from it. Squeeze 10 ml of juice from the lime halves and grapefruit halves, and strain it.
Step 2
Pour the juice and the remaining ingredients into a shaker filled with ice (you can make the syrup yourself; the ratio of sugar to water can be 1:1 or 1:2). Shake a few times.
Step 3
Pour the daiquiri (without ice) into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a twist of citrus zest — for this, wrap the cut strip around a cocktail straw and secure it in a spiral shape.
