Club Sandwich
Sandwiches • American
Description
The sandwich gets its name from its origin: it was first made (or something similar) in one of New York's private clubs in the late 19th century. A second version is not far from the first: turkey with lettuce was also placed between toasted slices of bread around the same time and in the same city, but in a different club — for card players. However, it doesn’t really matter who was served this sandwich first — a New York magnate or a relative squandering his fortune at the card table; the important thing is that it was in a club, and the sandwich received its corresponding name.
Ingredients
- Bacon 0 oz
- Mayonnaise 0 oz
- Sourdough Bread 3 pieces
- Pastrami 0 oz
- Marinated cherries 0 oz
- Romaine lettuce 0 oz
- Cheshire Cheese 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Place a large dry skillet over high heat and let it heat up. Add the slices of multigrain bread to the skillet. Toast for 1.5 minutes on each side. Remove the bread from the heat and transfer it to a cutting board.
Step 2
Place the skillet used for the bread over high heat. Add the bacon to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute on each side. Remove from heat.
Step 3
Slice the cherry tomatoes into rounds or halves, and tear the salad by hand.
Step 4
Spread homemade mayonnaise on 2 slices of bread, reserving 1 teaspoon of the sauce for later.
Step 5
On one slice of bread with sauce, place the lettuce leaves, tomatoes, and half of the chicken pastrami.
Step 6
Top with a slice of cheddar cheese and close with a second slice of bread.
Step 7
Spread the remaining mayonnaise on top of the bread. Layer it with the leftover slices of pastrami, bacon, cheese, and lettuce.
Step 8
Cover with a third slice of bread and gently press down. Cut diagonally in half and place on a plate.
