Classic Non-Alcoholic Mojito
Drinks • Cuban
Description
The queen of the mojito is mint. It's best to use mint with a sweet aroma, but you can also use peppermint for a bolder flavor. There's no need to mash the mint too much (a common mistake is turning it into a puree) — just enough to release its juices and aroma, which will immediately infuse the drink. If you don't have lime nearby, you can substitute it with lemon, but lime is preferable — it has a slight bitterness that balances the sweetness of the soda, which lemon lacks. Another important point: if you have a powerful blender, you can crush the ice in it until it becomes a slushy consistency. However, if you are mixing mojitos in large quantities rather than in individual glasses, add ice cubes instead: crushed ice melts quickly, and soon instead of a refreshing cocktail in the pitcher, you’ll have a sweet watery drink.
