Chicory Salad with Fried Ham and Pears
Ingredients
- Buttermilk 3 tablespoons
- Mayonnaise 2½ tablespoons
- Chives 3 tablespoons
- Champagne Vinegar 1 teaspoon
- Salt ¼ teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper ¼ teaspoon
- Black Forest Ham 5 oz
- Bartlett Pear 2 pieces
- Vegetable Oil ½ cup
- Chicory 15 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a bowl, mix the buttermilk, mayonnaise, finely chopped chives, vinegar, salt, and pepper.
Step 2
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over high heat. Reduce the heat and fry the thinly sliced ham, 2 pieces at a time, for about 2-3 minutes, turning until golden and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel and let cool slightly. Cut into small pieces.
Step 3
Cut the pears in half and remove the seeds. Slice thinly.
Step 4
In a large bowl, combine the chopped chicory, pears, and ham. Drizzle with the dressing and serve.
