Step 1
Wash the cherries in cold water, remove the pits, sprinkle with sugar, and let sit for half an hour. During this time, stir them several times to release more juice, which should be drained and then added to the finished kissel.
Step 2
Crush the pits of the berries, pour in 2.5 cups of hot water, bring to a boil, and strain. Pour the resulting broth over the berries and bring to a boil again.
Step 3
In the boiling broth with the berries, pour in the diluted potato starch, bring to a boil again, remove from heat, add the berry juice, and stir.
