Description

Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions, Balsamic Vinegar, and Tartar Sauce

Ingredients

  • Hamburger Bun 2 pieces
  • Lean Beef 10 oz
  • Onion 10 oz
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Balsamic Vinegar 0 fl oz
  • Mayonnaise 2 tablespoons
  • Cornichons 0 oz
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Aged gouda cheese 5 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Peel and slice the onion into half-rings. Sauté it in butter until golden brown.

Step 2

Then add sugar and balsamic vinegar to the onions. Simmer everything on low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vinegar evaporates.

Step 3

Form two round patties from the ground beef. They should be slightly larger in diameter than the buns. This is to ensure that during cooking, when the meat shrinks, it won't be too much smaller than the buns.

Step 4

Season the patties with salt and pepper and fry them over high heat until cooked through. Place 40 grams of cheese on each hot patty.

Step 5

Grate the cornichons finely and mix them with mayonnaise.

Step 6

Cut the buns in half lengthwise.

Step 7

On the bottom half of the bun, place half of the caramelized onions, then the cooked patty with cheese. Spread sauce on the top bun and cover the cheeseburger.

Step 8

It is recommended to heat the finished cheeseburger in the oven at 160°C and serve warm.
