Cape Codder
Drinks • European
Description
In 1959, the U.S. Department of Health announced that fields of commercially grown cranberries were treated with toxic fertilizers: this is why the Cape Codder, invented in the late 1940s, became one of the most popular American cocktails only thirty years later.
Ingredients
- Vodka 0 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a mixing glass, add three large handfuls of cranberries (reserve a few berries for garnish) and pour in the syrup. Muddle everything well to release the juice from the cranberries.
Step 2
Fill a glass for serving with crushed ice and add a dash of Angostura bitters.
Step 3
In a shaker, add ice cubes, vodka, and shake vigorously. Strain into a glass, add ice to create a mound.
