Ingredients

  • Onion 20 oz
  • Fresh Bay Leaf 1 piece
  • Allspice berries 2 pieces
  • Orange zest 1 tablespoon
  • Orange juice concentrate 5 fl oz
  • Brown Sugar 5 oz
  • Balsamic Vinegar 0 fl oz
  • Romaine lettuce 0 oz
  • Sweet Red Onion 1 piece
  • Olive Oil 5 fl oz
  • Water 2 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Oats 3 tablespoons
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Fresh Rose Hips 2 sprigs
  • Pickles 1 piece
  • Lean Beef 25 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Prepare the onion jam with rosemary: slice the onion into thin half-rings, drizzle with olive oil, and sauté over medium heat, stirring constantly, until translucent. Add the whole bay leaf, rosemary sprigs, orange zest, and two allspice berries. Continue to sauté, stirring (the onion should not brown). Pour in the juice, gradually add the sugar, and add the balsamic vinegar. Stir, scraping the caramel from the sides and returning it to the onion. Cover with a lid, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 2

Place the ground beef in a bowl, add water, an egg, and oats, season with salt and pepper to taste. Form into a ball and pound it several times against a cutting board. Divide into 6 portions and shape into flat patties, thin and wide.

Step 3

Fry the patties in a small amount of oil for 1.5 minutes on each side and then place in the oven or on the grill for 3 to 13 minutes, depending on the desired doneness.

Step 4

Slice the red onion into thin rings, the cucumber into very thin rounds, and dry the washed lettuce.

Step 5

Cut the buns in half and toast them in the oven for half a minute. Spread the inside of the bottom halves with the jam, place a patty on top, add more jam, two thin slices of cucumber, a round slice of onion, a pinch of lettuce, and the top half of the bun.
