Ingredients

  • Water 5 qt
  • Sugar 3 cups
  • Nut Bread 10 oz
  • Kvass sediment 1 tablespoon

Toast slices of black bread (half a loaf) in the oven until blackened.

Step 2

Boil water (5 liters) and let it cool slightly.

Step 3

In warm water, add the toasted bread, sugar, and yeast.

Step 4

Leave for 1.5 to 2 days in a cool, dark place.

Step 5

Strain the fermented kvass, pour into bottles, and refrigerate for 1 day.

Step 6

Before consumption, honey can be added.
